This project is the culmination of selected improvised jams that stemmed from four jam sessions which took place from September 2017 to January 2018. They were all recorded with a small recorder and placed in the center of the room to give a live feel, almost as if you are there. This is about as raw of an album that we could have possibly made, given the medium and the free-form improvisation of the music. As a musician making a modern studio record today, you have almost endless time to make edits and to modulate the music in any way you please, to cover your flubs and make your musical timing or pitch virtually perfect to the ear, even though it was not perfect when you recorded it. No such care was applied here. We all have several moments within this album that we would rather not showcase (moments of “oh no, why did you keep that in!”), but we felt that overall, the music superseded our shortcomings in many ways, and to edit things out would have disrupted the feel and flow of each improvisation. Our aim in these tracks is to give the listener a true "fly on the wall" experience into the improvised music of spacecaps, hopefully stripped of any ego. I think you’ll find moments that are raw and visceral, and some true diamonds in the rough. Hopefully what you will experience, is three people in a room attempting to shut out the world, if just for a moment, to connect with each other and create something beautiful.
