Eric has a really good habit of frequently recording these little snippets of ideas and playing them for me. As with anything creative, some work and some don't. I remember hearing this one and immediately knowing it would be a song. There was something about the way he layered the bass parts that formed the song in Lydian mode that was quite intriguing to me. I tried to faithfully recreate all the loops and effects on the original demo recording loop since they sounded so cool.
I do remember that early on in the recording stage, i would play Eric mixes of this song whenever I added a few more parts. At some point, I felt like the song was completed and I played him the mix. I recall some silence, and then finally he just said, "More, it needs more to it. It doesn't feel full enough yet." That's when I went back and added an orchestra of guitars tracked with ebows layered with effects. He was right.
-Probably my favorite song on the album, this song is best listened to with headphones on and eyes closed, or driving at night with the windows down. -CP
Without a doubt, my favorite song on the album. -EE
